Artist Statement
This artwork serves as a commentary on the treatment of disabled individuals by the current administration. It features photography capturing scenes from Columbus and Philadelphia, printed on various materials such as packing tape, a Social Security envelope, and a deconstructed provisions box from a food bank.
The base of this piece is constructed from a sawed-off door fragment discovered in an abandoned sleeping area of a former apartment. This door had been forcibly kicked in by unknown persons, and the space is no longer in use as a shelter. The fragmented mirror pieces invite the audience to reflect on both the tangible barriers depicted in metal and knots, as well as the emotional toll being expressed.
