[I live with a condition previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder, but now with further understanding is called Dissociative Identity Disorder.] Since its beginnings last spring, this piece has evolved. At first it represented an attempt at escape, defeated by the unrelenting grip of a captor. Over time its meaning changed course. The upper hand (representing the element of air) is reaching downward, attempting to make a firm connection, in the hope of drawing others upward into the light.
