AEO 2026 – “The Gold Squares”_Conti - Art Possible Ohio

A tall vertical canvas is divided into a grid of glowing rose‑gold squares outlined by thick black lines. The grid forms six columns by twelve rows, with uneven paint coverage that suggests shifting light within each square. A smaller panel overlaps the upper right portion of the grid. This panel contains horizontal black and blue stripes that increase in width from left to right. Metallic blue lines ripple across the black stripes, softening their edges. The contrast between rigid grid structure and fluid striped panel creates visual tension. The painting is unframed, with color wrapping around the edges of the canvas.

Artist Statement

I created this piece with black and gold spray paint and the metallic blue spray paint. It's called "Gold Squares," and it's an optical illusion.
