A large papier‑mâché dragon sits beside a much smaller curled dragon figure. The larger dragon’s dark grey body is accented with bright red hair, yellow eye sockets, and black whisker‑like textures. Broad wings extend outward, their interiors black with white speckling and scalloped edges. The dragon’s open mouth reveals vivid red and pink interior colors and short white fangs. Beside it, the pale grey baby dragon curls beneath a white blanket, her form simplified and smooth. Red hair accents echo the larger figure. The sculpture emphasizes contrast in scale, texture, and surface detail between the two forms.

Artist Statement

Mars is the dragon you see today. She has a mighty roar (she has an added voice box) and also has a daughter that is gently tucked in for bed.

"Dragon and Daughter" is a mixed-media sculpture that I created completely from scratch. It literally came to life from my vision and now lives in the among the land of the living forevermore.
